Like most places, the number of specifically LGBTQ+ nightspots has dropped a bit, but a few notable spots still draw sizable crowds. The rest of the week, the venue draws a mixed crowd to its live shows, karaoke (on Wednesdays), Trivia Nights, and other festivities. For a city far smaller than Memphis, it's a bit surprising that Knoxville has nearly the same number of gay bars. Art Bar: An inviting, carnivalesque space that includes giant robots, string lights, and other kitschy paraphernalia, Art Bar is packed on Friday nights when queer folk age 21 and up hit the dance floor.The venue has drag shows, karaoke, and a variety of parties, plus events supporting Gay Pride and other community organizations. PT's 1109: In the shadows of the capitol building, PT's 1109 is arguably the most popular gay bar and nightclub in Columbia, with a good-size dance floor and drink specials.Mingle at the friendly bar (check out their daily happy hours) or watch drag shows every Friday and Saturday night. It's along a stretch of Gervais with several restaurants and mixed bars. The Capital Club: One of the longest-running gay bars in the Southeast, and the oldest in Columbia, the laid-back and private Capital Club is a block from the capitol building downtown.
